I would never have dreamed that I would have the opportunity to attend – let alone participate in – the worlds largest conference on sustainability and fashion. But on Monday, I will head off to Copenhagen for the biennial fashion summit. This event brings together over 800 key industry stakeholders to identify new opportunities and forward-looking solutions to the growing sustainability challenges facing the planet.
Already, much of what we do at WRAPHABILLEMENT is in accordance with the Nordic Initiative Clean and Ethical (NICE) 10-Year Plan of Action. Where we really stand out is our patent pending SMARTSHIELD pocket system and desire to help educate the consumer as to the risks of electromagnetic frequencies and microwaves from their cell phones and to give them a choice of how to manage this risk with our product. Plus it has been fun to do so in a way that really pushes the idea of a jacket and protection.
There will be super interesting breakout sessions at the summit ranging from designing for sustainable consumption and product transparency to engagement with consumers on responsible care and business model innovation – wow. Above are pictures of just a few of the keynote speakers from Gucci, to PPR Home to Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
You may recall that I was back in Copenhagen last October. This go round, I look forward to exploring the summit venue: The Opera House, which was donated to the Danish state by the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation in August 2000. The architecture is stunningly beautiful – I can hardly wait to inspect Henning Larsens Tegnestue‘s work in person!
So, on Monday afternoon I will be off to the airport to pursue my creative and business endeavors – LOVED this op-ed by David Brooks – wonderful! Hope I can secure my favorite parking spot at Sea-Tac and will strive to keep you posted from the road. So, until next time…
